Welcome to the Rutland and District Pétanque League website Date : Updated – 8th December 2011 – 10:00 GMT – The Minutes of the 2011 AGM have been posted on the News/Info page
Pat More than 50 teams play pétanque (the French game of boules) in Rutland every Tuesday evening in the spring and summer. Most are based at our splendid local hostelries. The league was established in 1993 with nine teams and has been growing ever since. It now has 5 divisions of 10 teams each, 2 local divisions ( North and South), Division 2, Division 1 and a Premier Division. We also hold the Greene King Cup and the Turner Plate Competition, in which all teams play, which is played during the season. Pétanque is a game which all can enjoy at any age and with any level of skill and the equipment is not expensive. Usually all that is required is a set of three matching boules which can be acquired from any good sports shop. Go to the "contacts/links" page to find various companies/websites which will guide you on what is required |
